Touchable Art! "Ceramic Board Experience: Art and Culture Connected by Ceramics" Now on View! Until November 3
Summary
The special exhibition "Ceramic Board Experience: Art and Culture Connected by Ceramics" is currently being held at the Koka City Shigaraki Traditional Industry Hall in Koka, Shiga Prefecture. The exhibition runs until November 3 and admission is free. The ceramic masterpieces displayed at the Otsuka Museum of Art in Tokushima City are "yakimono" (ceramics) produced at the Otsuka Ohmi Ceramics factory in Shigaraki. These ceramic boards, made using the same technique as the museum's collection, faithfully reproduce the colors and sizes of the original paintings, allowing visitors not only to view them up close but also to take photographs and touch them. The exhibition features 15 works, including Leonardo da Vinci's "Mona Lisa," Van Gogh's "Sunflowers," and Monet's "Water Lilies: Green Harmony." Additionally, until November 3, Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring" is on display at Shigaraki Station on the Shigaraki Kogen Railway, where a Shigaraki raccoon dog statue wearing pearl earrings welcomes visitors. The exhibition is also introduced with video on the official Instagram of the Shiga Prefecture Tourism Policy Bureau.
