"YOSHIROTTEN Exhibition: Communication with the Beyond / BEYOND EARTH" Opens at TOKYO NODE in Toranomon: Depicting Unseen Worlds with JAXA Collaboration
Summary
Graphic designer and artist YOSHIROTTEN's large-scale solo exhibition "YOSHIROTTEN Exhibition: Communication with the Beyond / BEYOND EARTH" is running at TOKYO NODE in Toranomon Hills until January 11, 2027. Born in Kagoshima in 1983, YOSHIROTTEN began as a graphic designer and has expanded into video and spatial design, creating artwork for artists such as Utada Hikaru, Yamashita Tatsuro, and XG, and collaborating with brands including Hermès, Nike, and G-SHOCK. In fine art, he has consistently explored "visualizing the invisible." This exhibition, his largest to date in a roughly 20-year career, spans about 1,500 square meters at roughly 200 meters above ground, presenting past-maximum-scale new works from his signature series "RGB," "FUTURE NATURE," and "SUN," along with new pieces produced with the cooperation of JAXA. The entire space becomes a single "spaceship" attempting communication with the unseen "beyond." Natural light and city lights through the large windows, changing with weather and time of day, are key elements, giving the space entirely different expressions by day and night. Actor Nana Eikura, also from Kagoshima and close to YOSHIROTTEN, appeared at the press preview.
