美術館・アート情報
Otaru City Museum of Art will host an exhibition celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Taichisha art group.

Summary

The Otaru City Museum of Art will hold the exhibition, "Otaru's First Major Art Exhibition ~100 Years of the Taichisha Exhibition~," from January 24 to April 19, 2026. The Taichisha was an artists' association formed in Otaru in 1925, holding its first exhibition in 1926, preceding the major Hokkaido public exhibition, "Doten." Its founding members, including the brothers Senji Miura and Eiji Kanehira, along with Saboro Kudo, Zensaku Nakamura, and Shozo Yamazaki, all became founding members of Doten and formed the core of Hokkaido's art scene. This exhibition commemorates the 100th anniversary of the first Taichisha exhibition, showcasing works and materials from the museum's collection to introduce the group's impact and the art of its members and contributors.
