Okayama City Complex Store Becomes Art Gallery, "Galleria Homo," Exhibition by Two Sculptors (Sanyo Shimbun Digital)
Summary
The complex store "Mitte" in Tomita-cho, Kita Ward, Okayama City, has been reborn as the art gallery "Galleria Homo" in January. The inaugural exhibition features two sculptors: Katsuhiko Enomoto (74) from Akaiwa City and Takatoshi Kuronuma (40) from Kanagawa Prefecture, under the theme of "Rebirth." The gallery spans three floors with an industrial aesthetic featuring exposed steel frames and concrete floors, allowing natural light in. Enomoto's wooden sculptures are displayed on the first floor, while Kuronuma's figurative works are on the third floor. The highlight is the second floor, where their works intersect, including Enomoto's "Atarashii Hajimari" and Kuronuma's "Birth," set against soft piano music by composer haruka nakamura, inviting introspection. The owner, Kotaro Sueto (47), who also runs a gallery in Akaiwa City, organized this opening exhibition, partly to showcase Enomoto's work again after his house fire. Sueto expressed his hope that the gallery will be a place where visitors can deeply engage with art and take something away with them. The exhibition runs until the 23rd.
