The special exhibition "Moon and Stars: When Art Connects," commemorating the 900th anniversary of Chiba's founding, has opened at the Chiba City Museum of Art and runs until November 23. The exhibition connects the region's history and astronomical perspectives to art, re-examining the present and envisioning the future, against the historical backdrop of the Chiba clan's deep worship of Myoken, the deified North Star and Big Dipper. The venue is divided into three parts: Part 1 displays historical materials related to Chiba and Myoken worship, Part 2 exhibits astronomical materials from East and West, and Part 3 features works by nine contemporary artists—Noe Aoki, Takuma Uematsu, Rikako Kawauchi, Akiko and Masako Takada, Atsuhiko Misawa, Yuri Miyauchi, Tatsuo Miyajima, Nozomu Watanabe, and Yasuko Watanabe—under the themes of "Space," "Moon and Stars," and "Earth," along with part of the collection, comprising a total of 180 works. In Part 1, the "Chiba Myoken Daienki Emaki" (Muromachi–Edo period), depicting the relationship between the Chiba clan and Myoken Bodhisattva, is shown for the first time in 28 years, and the restored former mural "Myoken Son Shutsugen no Zu" (1947) by Japanese painter Shunkei Taoka is unveiled for the first time.
