YOSHIROTTEN Exhibition “Communication with the Beyond / BEYOND EARTH” Opening Report: From 200 Meters Above Ground to the Far Reaches of Space
Summary
The solo exhibition “YOSHIROTTEN Exhibition: Communication with the Beyond / BEYOND EARTH” by artist YOSHIROTTEN has opened at TOKYO NODE in Toranomon, Tokyo, running until January 11, 2027. This is his first large-scale solo exhibition in Tokyo in 8 years and his largest to date. The gallery, located on the 45th floor of Toranomon Hills Station Tower at about 200 meters above ground, is conceived as a “spaceship.” The theme, “communication with the beyond,” refers to connecting with invisible, distant places and times through light, sound, and radio waves. The approximately 1,500-square-meter space features large-scale installations that convert vast data about space, Earth, and the city into light, video, and color. Natural light and the Tokyo cityscape outside the windows also become part of the exhibition, which shows different expressions by day and night. Latest works from three representative series from the past decade—“RGB,” “FUTURE NATURE,” and “SUN”—are brought together. Notably, “Signal RGB” uses monitor technology like a paintbrush to compose 144 moving graphics. New works created in collaboration with JAXA are also on display, extending YOSHIROTTEN's theme of “visualizing the invisible” into space.
