Summary
The 79th Year-End Charity Art Exhibition, organized by the Sanyo Shimbun Social Welfare Foundation, opens on the 29th at the Sanyo Shimbun building in Yanagimachi, Kita Ward, Okayama City, displaying works donated by artists from within and outside Okayama Prefecture. On the 28th, the works were delivered and the venue was prepared. This annual event allows visitors to purchase exhibited items through a bidding system. This year, about 460 works were donated from the fields of art, calligraphy, crafts, culture, sports, music, and religion. Highlights include tea bowls and vases by Jun Isezaki, a Living National Treasure of Bizen ware who passed away in July, a bronze statue "Boy" by sculptor Jiro Hiruta, a member of the Japan Art Academy, and "Cherry Blossoms" by painter Tomoki Moriyama, who received this year's prefectural culture award. The exhibition runs until November 3, from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (until 4 p.m. on the final day), with free admission. Bids are accepted at the venue, and successful bidders will be notified by mail after the exhibition ends. Works can be exchanged for payment on the 21st and 22nd at Sanyo Shimbun. Cancellations after winning a bid are not permitted. The exhibition has been held annually since 1948, and proceeds are used for various social welfare programs, including donations to welfare facilities as "Year-End Love Relief Funds."
