Disabled Artist Art: "Enjoy Art Appreciation, Not Welfare" - Exhibition and Sale in Tobe
Summary
The Ayami Gallery in Tobe, Ehime Prefecture, is currently hosting an exhibition and sale of artworks created by artists with disabilities. Gallery president Yoshihiko Okita emphasizes that he wants visitors to "enjoy art appreciation, not welfare," and aims to showcase at least ten pieces per artist to fully convey their unique worldviews. The current exhibition features approximately 30 works by Hotofu and Nejimori Tokeimori, both of whom attend a vocational support center operated by the NPO Inclusive Japan. The collection includes digital prints and colorful paintings of girls. Okita hopes that by proudly displaying these works in a professional gallery, he can contribute to the long-term revitalization of the Japanese art world.
