Tate Museum - YBA & BEYOND: British Art of the 90s That Changed the World
Summary
This exhibition centers on British art created from the late 1980s through the early 2000s, highlighting the Young British Artists (YBA) and their contemporaries. Emerging from the tense social climate of the Thatcher era (1979–90), these artists challenged existing artistic frameworks through experimental works utilizing diverse media such as painting, sculpture, photography, video, and installation. Their themes often explored popular culture, personal narratives, and shifts in social structures. The exhibition will examine the innovative creative trajectory of 90s British art through approximately 100 works by about 60 artists. The event runs from February 11 to May 11, 2026.
