Summary
On May 26, 2026, Hyundai Motor Group launched the 7th open call for the VH AWARD, a prize aimed at supporting emerging media artists working with themes of Asian history and culture. The application period runs until July 21. In addition to production support and exhibition opportunities for the five finalists, the grand prize winner will receive $30,000 (approximately 4.8 million yen). Established by Hyundai Motor Group in 2016, the VH AWARD alternates annually and initially focused on Korean artists before expanding to the entire Asian region in 2021. Recent grand prize winners include Lawrence Lek, Subas Tebe Limbu, and Wendy Yan. Finalists will receive grants for new productions and participation in online residency programs, alongside opportunities to present their work at major international platforms such as Ars Electronica Festival, HEK in Basel, Singapore Art Week 2028, and Hyundai Motor Group's Vision Hall. A new Special Prize has been introduced this year to honor promising artists from a broader perspective. The jury for the 7th edition includes Kristal Bauer (Ars Electronica Festival Head), Sabine Himmelrath (HEK Director), Honar Haghaghi (ArtScience Museum Director), Massimiliano Gioioni (New Museum Artistic Director), and the South Korean artist duo Mun Kyungwon & Jeong Junho.
