Kyo Takemura's Largest-Scale Solo Exhibition 'Kyo Takemura: Moving World' to be Held at Mito Art Museum Contemporary Art Gallery
Summary
The Mito Art Museum Contemporary Art Gallery in Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture, will host a solo exhibition titled "Kyo Takemura: Moving World" by artist Kyo Takemura (1975–). The exhibition runs from July 25 to October 12. Takemura creates works that shed new light on subjects in a fluctuating world, such as the flow of time, movement of people and objects, natural disasters, and personal memories, through the act of "sewing." The exhibition features works from the 2000s, a group of works treated with "repair," and new installations themed around "natural disasters" and "repair." Additionally, workshops will be held in the city of Mito where participants can consider and practice the meaning of "repair." The exhibition also presents two new works where themes such as "memory," "repair," "disaster," and "home" organically intersect. Through these diverse creations, viewers can witness the essence of Takemura's art, which continues to face a constantly shaking world by engaging in the physical act of sewing with their own hands.
