「Basel Social Club」の系譜を継ぐ「Tokyo Jazz Club」が初開催
Summary
From November 1 to 8, 2026, Tokyo Jazz Club will debut in the former capsule hotel near Jimbocho, Tokyo, occupying all eight floors. The event inherits the legacy of Basel Social Club, a nomadic art platform founded in Basel, Switzerland, known for holding exhibitions in unconventional spaces without a fixed venue. Tokyo Jazz Club positions jazz not as a mere theme but as a guiding principle of improvisation and attentive listening, integrating contemporary art exhibitions, artist-led performances, food experiences, and bar spaces into a unified social environment. Co-founded by Robbie Okuda Fitzpatrick and Yael Salomonowitz, both of Basel Social Club, the project is presented in partnership with Art Week Tokyo and supported by the Arts Council Tokyo. Further details, including participating artists and galleries, will be announced shortly. The affiliated Art Week Tokyo 2026 runs from November 4 to 8, featuring a record 55 museums and galleries.
