The art collective yaru will present the participatory performance "USAGE of UTAGE" at the Kyoto Art Center. This performance reinterprets "Utage" (feast) as a site of physical practice in the contemporary world. By reducing the concept of a feast—which is often understood and consumed as a festival or event—to the extremely simple condition of multiple people gathering in the same time and space and continuously repeating their respective movements, the work highlights the intensity accumulated by everyday actions. The performance is open to the public, and performers are also being recruited through a general public call.
