Collection Exhibition: Exploring Tokyo Ateliers - Galleries, Atelier Villages, and Art Schools - Special Exhibition: 120th Anniversary of the Birth of Gentaro Komaki
Summary
This exhibition explores the work of artists who gathered in Tokyo from the Taisho to Showa periods, focusing on creative hubs like the "Ikebukuro Montparnasse" artist villages, as well as galleries and art schools in areas such as Ginza, Ochiai, Tabata, and Ueno. It highlights how these communities were rebuilt even after the devastation of the 1945 Tokyo Air Raids.
Running concurrently is a special exhibition celebrating the 120th anniversary of the birth of Gentaro Komaki, featuring his artworks and related documents. The exhibition will be held from April 24 to June 14, 2026, and admission is free.
