Gilbert & George's Major Exhibition to be Held at Kyoto Seika Art Museum and National Museum of Modern Art in 2027
Summary
The major exhibition 'Gilbert & George' by British contemporary art duo Gilbert & George (born 1943 and 1942) will be held at Kyoto Seika Art Museum from May 26 to August 29, 2027, and at the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo from September 17 to December 20, 2027. Having won the Turner Prize in 1986 and represented the UK at the Venice Biennale in 2005, the artists have pursued their unique practice of fusing art and life under the motto 'two people as one artist' for over 50 years. Organized with full support from Tadeusz Opalka and White Cube, the exhibition showcases their diverse activities and expressions under the banner of 'Art for All,' featuring works from their 'Pictures' series to the video piece 'Song Sculpture' (1969), along with rare photographs and videos from their 1970s Japan visit.
