Nodoka Odawara and Yuri Yamada selected as first fellows for the NCAR × AWARE Women Artists Research Fellowship

The National Center for Art Research (NCAR) and AWARE: Archives of Women Artists, Research and Exhibitions have announced Nodoka Odawara and Yuri Yamada as the inaugural fellows for their research fellowship program. This initiative supports research on women and non-binary artists with ties to Japan. Nodoka Odawara, a sculptor and critic, will research early 20th-century sculptors Toko Kuhara and Kanono Ota to re-examine art history. Curator Yuri Yamada of the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum will investigate the work and historical significance of women photographers active from the Meiji to early Showa periods. Their findings are scheduled for publication on the NCAR and AWARE websites starting in the summer of 2027.
