A new cultural facility, Powerhouse Parramatta, will open in Parramatta, western Sydney, on November 7. The project, with a total cost of AUD 915 million (approximately JPY 104.4 billion) and a floor area of about 30,000 square meters, represents the largest public investment in cultural facilities in Australia since the Sydney Opera House. It is the first state-run cultural facility in western Sydney, home to over 170 nationalities. The design is led by a Franco-Japanese architectural unit, Moro Kusunoki, in collaboration with Australian firms Genten and Arup. The museum will showcase over 3,000 items, including 1,600 from the Powerhouse collection, and feature 45 new commissions from 14 countries, with seven works dedicated to supporting First Nations cultural practices through the 'Community Commissions' program.
