2-Person Exhibition AIDA Makoto & OKADA Hiroko @ Museum Haus Kasuya
Summary
A two-person exhibition featuring AIDA Makoto and OKADA Hiroko will be held at Museum Haus Kasuya from May 30, 2026, to August 16, 2026. This marks the first time the two artists, who have long careers in their respective fields, will exhibit together. AIDA Makoto, born in Niigata in 1965, is known for his style that freely traverses boundaries between society, history, the modern and pre-modern eras, and the East and West, presenting unconventional contrasts and sharp criticism. OKADA Hiroko, born in Tokyo in 1970, creates works with high message value for contemporary society through a realistic perspective based on her own life experiences, including love, marriage, childbirth, and child-rearing. At this exhibition, AIDA will work on the public production of the painting "Mikonzu" (Mixed Bathing Picture), which he has been conceptualizing and prototyping for over two years, alongside a series of abstract paintings. OKADA will present the multimedia installation "Idoban de, Sono Onnatachi wa" (At the Well, Those Women), where women discuss their lives at a table set up beside a well in the venue, featuring voices of women who lived in the avant-garde era. During the exhibition period, talks by AIDA and OKADA are scheduled to take place.
