The exhibition will showcase approximately 100 works, centering on the museum's renowned collection of ghost and yokai paintings, including pieces by Ito Jakuchu, Kano Hokusai, Sawayaki Takayuki, and Utagawa Kuniyoshi. The display is organized into chapters such as "The Heart of Yokai Painting" and "The Heart of Ghost Painting," focusing not only on the supernatural beings themselves but also on the cultural background of why they were depicted and how people have perceived and transformed these eerie phenomena into enjoyment. Additionally, the museum plans to feature interactive digital content by the creative lab "anno lab" based in Fukuoka, as well as related events including a summer ghost story rakugo performance, a lecture by Tanaka Keiko from the University of Art Tokyo, a twilight sketching time, and gallery talks by curators.
