Following a rigorous selection by the judges—Sakaki Noi, Shimizu Makoto, Tomii Reiko, and Hoshino Ta—the following works were selected as winners: First Prize: Eimei Teramachi's "A Revolution Seen Lying Down: An Aesthetic Inquiry into Video, Kisanji, and the Transformation of Synesthesia"; Second Prize: Ogisu Hirohiro Kubota's "Works That Cannot Be Repaid: Towards the Design of Their Death" and Takesanori Watanabe's "Simulation of Nature: A Critique of Sou Fujimoto's "Great Roof Ring"; Honorable Mentions: Takahiro Ishikawa's "Life Ceramics Seen from 'Reverse Orientalism': Towards the Periphery Facing the Empire of Contemporary Art"; Wataru Ohtomo's "Clinical Records of Computed Ghosts: Beyond Materialist Reduction, a Theory of the Object Relationship of Beauty and Love"; and Taichi Yoshimi's "Arakawa / Madeline Gins as an Anthropological Sign: Parting from the Duchampian Paradigm". Established in 1954 as a "Newcomer Criticism Contest" for the monthly magazine Bijutsu Hihan, this award has served as a gateway for critics in Japan, with past winners including Yoshimi Higashino, Yujiro Nakahara, Koji Taki, Jun Miyagawa, Lee Ufan, Shunzo Kisumi, Ren Fukuzumi, Ryo Sawayama, and Shuya Kitazawa. The winning works will be published in the July 2026 issue of Bijutsu Techou, released on June 5, and on the web version starting around June 10.
