Immerse yourself in the world of Kuniyoshi with stereoscopic images. "KUNIYOSHI IMMERSIVE ART in Kuniyoshi Exhibition" will be held at Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art
Summary
The "KUNIYOSHI IMMERSIVE ART in Kuniyoshi Exhibition" will be held at Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art from July 18 to September 23. Kuniyoshi (1797-1861) was a "fantastic painter" known for handling ukiyo-e across a wide range of genres, from warrior pictures to caricatures and bijin-ga. At the venue, Kuniyoshi's world of works is dynamically expressed using the latest digital technology. This project is implemented as one of the displays of the exhibition "Ukiyo-e Super Creator Kuniyoshi Exhibition," which introduces Kuniyoshi's diverse expressions through about 200 works. It is positioned as a spin-off work of the "Moving Ukiyo-e Exhibition" that has recorded numerous attendances so far. 3DCG animations and projection mapping based on more than 50 of Kuniyoshi's ukiyo-e are deployed at the venue. Works known for their bold compositions, such as "Musashi Subdues the Whale" and "Soma no Okurari," are reconstructed within a stereoscopic image space as an experiential digital art museum. Furthermore, the "Ukiyo-e Super Creator Kuniyoshi Exhibition" features a structure that allows viewers to overview Kuniyoshi's multifaceted production, including warrior pictures that he excelled at, landscapes incorporating Western painting expressions, and actor pictures capturing their characteristics. The display works also include "Mikake Ha Ko Ha Wi Ga Tonda Ii Hito Da" known as a collage picture, and "Sono Mama Jikou Neko Shikou Gojuusan Hiki" which suggests Kuniyoshi's unmatched love for cats.
