The Fuchu City Museum of Art is hosting its first large‑scale solo exhibition for painter Yoko Matsumoto, titled “Yoko Matsumoto – The Day I Saw the Evening Star,” from May 23 to July 12, 2026. The show traces her 65‑year career—from her Tokyo University of the Arts graduation pieces through her signature acrylic works and later oil paintings—displaying representative works from museums nationwide as well as her newest pieces created since last year. The program includes artist talks, an interview video screening, a talk session featuring painters Shunsuke Imai and Iku Harada, and a lecture by curator Ryo‑ko Kamiyama. A concurrent collection exhibition “Depicting Tokyo” and a public studio project by Yūjiro Miyazaki also run, offering visitors a comprehensive view of Matsumoto’s artistic evolution and her connection to Tokyo.
