Mercedes-Benz Launches Art Project with VERDY. Andy Warhol Works Also on Display at Mercedes-Benz STUDIO TOKYO
Summary
Mercedes-Benz STUDIO TOKYO in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo, has launched an art project titled "VERDY meets Mercedes-Benz STUDIO TOKYO" in collaboration with graphic artist and artist VERDY. Announced in conjunction with the facility's expansion reopening, this program is being developed as a new initiative where Mercedes-Benz intersects with art and street culture. VERDY, born in Osaka in 1987, is known for original characters like "Vick" and "Visty" and has garnered international support for his typography-based expressions, having handled collaborations with numerous fashion brands and artists as well as art direction for large-scale events. This project aims to connect the brand's worldview with modern street culture, starting from Mercedes-Benz STUDIO TOKYO, with details to be announced sequentially on Mercedes-Benz Japan's official social media. Additionally, Mercedes-Benz STUDIO TOKYO is displaying two works from Andy Warhol's "Cars" series, created in 1986 to commemorate the brand's 100th anniversary, on a limited-time basis. The 1977-founded Mercedes-Benz Art Collection houses over 3,000 works by more than 800 artists and is one of Europe's representative corporate art collections. The displayed works feature the "Patent-Motorwagen," the world's first automobile and the origin of the brand, and a piece featuring the "300 SL Coupé," which symbolizes the brand. The display is scheduled to run until late July.
