Collection Exhibition "She Who Goes Beyond the Sea" @ Yokohama Museum of Art
Summary
The Yokohama Museum of Art will host the collection exhibition "She Who Goes Beyond the Sea" from August 1, 2026, to February 11, 2027. This exhibition focuses on female artists who have worked across national borders since the 20th century, exploring the vitality found in works created amidst the waves of globalization.
The exhibition is divided into four sections: "With Family," exploring the relationships of first-generation female painters who encountered foreign cultures; "Intersecting Gazes," introducing artists who traveled from the West to Asia; "Individual Routes," featuring artists who studied abroad or traveled the world for inspiration; and "The Stage of the Venice Biennale," highlighting female artists active in international exhibitions.
A highlight corner will feature masterpieces alongside female artists, including works by Salvador Dalí, René Magritte, and Pablo Picasso, as well as a newly unveiled donated work by Yayoi Kusama.
