BankART1929 is holding the solo exhibition "TOTEM ORGA(H)" by Yasura Takeshi at the Kohoku Water Reclamation Center for six days across two weekends in February 2026, marking the first independent project following the end of their facility management contract under the Yokohama City creative city initiative. Yasura Takeshi (b. 1984) centers his practice on viewing all beings, including humans, and inanimate objects as equal 'existences,' often incorporating critiques of hierarchies within ecological narratives. The exhibition uses the framework of totemism to focus on the relationships between elements within the 'urban organism'—such as sludge, reclaimed water, and microorganisms—positioning these not as subordinate to human-centric structures, but as 'contemporary totems' that question the existing state of being between humans and nature.
