Daiji Art Festival 2026 to be held at various locations including the former Honda House, featuring Daido Moriyama and Francis Shogo
Summary
The "Daiji Art Festival," initiated by local citizens in Zushi City, Kanagawa Prefecture, will celebrate its 14th edition in 2026. Held every three years as a special event, the festival takes place from October 3 to October 25 under the theme "Beginning of the Future, Beginning of the Place." The main venue is the historic former Honda House, with programs unfolding throughout the city, including the streets of the Zushi and Numata areas. Participating artists include photographer Daido Moriyama and artist Francis Shogo, who is based in Kamakura and Los Angeles, as well as Bruce Osborne, Nakamoto Hiroshi, Oki no Irie, Yamada Miyuu, Takaya Eien, and Otaga Ryoten. Additionally, the former Honda House will host a special exhibition of the large lithography picture book "Tetrascroll" (1977) by architect and thinker R. Buckminster Fuller. The festival aims to create a city-wide space for "co-education" where diverse people meet and grow through art. Beyond the exhibitions, the festival features diverse programs such as the "Ikego Forest Music Festival" and the citizen participation project "ZAF Manabi-ba," alongside workshops. These participatory and experiential art activities utilize the regional characteristics of Zushi, where nature, history, and lifestyle culture intersect, aiming to foster community formation, develop local leaders, and disseminate regional culture.
