Lucy Lee Exhibition: Elegant Vessels Connecting East and West
Summary
This exhibition is a retrospective of Lucy Lee (1902-1995), a prominent 20th-century British ceramic artist. Born in Vienna, she studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts and was captivated by wheel-thrown pottery. Forced to flee Nazi Austria in 1938, she moved to London where she continued her ceramic work. The exhibition features works by artists she knew, including Joseph Hoffman and Bernard Leach, and explores the relationship between her ceramics and East Asian pottery traditions.
