Summary
The National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in Taichung has announced the theme and some participating artists for the Asian Art Biennale 2026, which is scheduled to open in November. The biennale is curated by Lu Pei-yi, a professor at National Taipei University of Education. The theme is "Mrahul Tminun・共織・Co-Weaving," written in Taroko, Mandarin, and English, meaning "weaving" and "gathering." This theme emphasizes trans-regional collaboration and community practices to bring to light the voices of historically marginalized people. Participating artists include Labay Eyong, a Taroko native; Meita Meilita from Indonesia; OH Haji, based in Japan and Australia; and Yamanaka Suplex, who operates a studio at the border of Kyoto and Shiga. The exhibition is expected to feature over 30 artist groups, focusing on the continuity of their activities.
