Kochi Prefecture will host a background art drawing workshop led by animation art directors from March 27th to 29th as part of its anime industry promotion.Summary
Kochi Prefecture is promoting its "Kochi Prefecture Anime Project" to foster the anime industry and revitalize the region by creating employment opportunities. In connection with this initiative, a "Background Art Drawing Experience" workshop, taught by renowned animation art directors who worked on famous Studio Ghibli films, Yoji TakeShige and Yoichi Nishikawa, will be held from March 27th to 29th, 2026. Organized by the Aki City Tourism Association and co-hosted by Kochi Prefecture, the course offers participants, ranging from those interested in animation to beginners, the chance to learn hand-drawn background art techniques by drawing landscapes. The five sessions will take place across locations in Kochi City and Aki City.
