Yoshitomo Nara-curated ceramics exhibition "Movement of Strata" to be held at KOSAKU KANECHIKA, introducing four artists including Eiji Uematsu and Takuro Kuwata
Summary
The ceramics exhibition "Movement of Strata," curated by Yoshitomo Nara, will be held at KOSAKU KANECHIKA in Tennozu, Tokyo, from June 27 to August 8. The show presents about 30 works by four artists: 植松永次, 桑田卓郎, 坂本紬野子, and 安永正臣. Since opening in 2017, KOSAKU KANECHIKA has worked not only with painting and sculpture but also with ceramic expression, and this exhibition is planned as an opportunity to reconsider the possibilities of ceramics. It is also the gallery's first exhibition to invite an external curator. Nara explains that he selected the artists from his own "formal viewpoint" rather than relying on ceramic or craft history, emphasizing whether their work bodily embraces the "irreversible traces" created by clay, fire, time, and chance.
