Touching the Real, Honing Expression: Activities of the Art Course in the First Semester
Students visited museums and craft exhibitions, met artisans, and held an exhibition to develop artistic skills and expression.Summary
During the first semester, the art course students visited the National Museum of Western Art and the Tokyo National Museum in Ueno, attended the Nakano Ward Traditional Craft Exhibition at the Nakano Ward Office, and also explored the National Museum of Modern Art. These visits allowed them to encounter a wide range of genuine works—from historical paintings to traditional crafts and contemporary art—and to hear directly from artisans about their techniques and creative processes. In addition, third‑year high school students held an exhibition at the end of the semester, and their works continue to be displayed in the art room. Through these experiences, students have developed not only their ability to create artwork but also the skills to present and communicate their creations to others. Moving forward, the course will continue to prioritize encounters with authentic works and opportunities for exhibition, aiming to nurture each student’s sensitivity and expressive power.
