Korean National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art to Digitize Korean Modern Art Materials in Japan
Summary
On October 3, 2024, the Korean National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMCA) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Tokyo National Research Institute for Cultural Properties to collaborate on research into Korean modern art and Korea-Japan art exchange history. Under the agreement, the two institutions will carry out a five-year project from 2026 to 2030 to digitize Korean modern art materials located in Japan, including photographs, documents, and artworks. The resulting digital archive will provide scholars with online access to these dispersed resources, facilitating deeper study of the historical and artistic exchanges between Korea and Japan.
