Summary
Professor Riko Imamashi of the Faculty of International Cultural Communication at Jogakkan University published the fourth installment of her series, “Transcending Beauty,” in the Mainichi Shimbun, reviewing the exhibition “Ryuusuke Fukahori – Into the Fluctuations of Water” (Abeno Harukas Museum of Art, July 5th – September 7th). Fukahori is known as a unique “goldfish painter” who has established a technique called “2.5D painting,” layering acrylic paints in transparent resin. Professor Imamashi notes that Fukahori’s work creates a new world of flower and bird painting that intersects fantasy and realism, while building on the history of goldfish culture originating in China and a biological perspective.
