A 'Cave' Appearing in the City. 'Urban Cave ESOLOGOT ver.1' Featuring the Starry Sky 20,000 Years Ago and Lascaux Cave Paintings Opens in Hibiya
Summary
An immersive event titled 'Urban Cave ESOLOGOT ver.1' is currently taking place at Hibiya OKUROJI in Tokyo. Organized by a team of four stationery brands known as 'Team ESOLOGOT,' the event features projection mapping and a high-performance planetarium 'MEGASTAR' to recreate the world of 20,000 years ago. The venue is a 'cave' set within the urban bustle of an underpass, where visitors can experience the starry sky and Lascaux cave paintings. The project was conceived to address the potential loss of the imaginative power to create 'eso-ra-goto' (fantasy) in modern society, which relies heavily on the internet and AI. Believing that stationery is a tool for generating imagination, the participating brands aimed to restore this creative power. The event, which is open to the general public following a previous invitation-only 'ver.0,' features supervision by planetarium creator Takayuki Ohira, music by French composer Eric Aaron, and academic collaboration by prehistory doctor Jean Igarashi. The event runs until July 13.
