This exhibition showcases 500 illustrations created by Tsukaimo for Shuichi Yoshida's novel "Kokuhou," which was serialized in the Asahi Shimbun from 2017 to 2018. The exhibition is divided into two parts.
In the original creation process, Tsukaimo first drew ink line art and then layered colors to capture the emotions and atmosphere of the story. For this exhibition, the artist has re-applied colors by hand onto the original line drawings on Japanese paper, replacing the digital compositions used during the original newspaper serialization.
By revisiting and re-coloring works from a decade ago, the artist explores the intersection of literature and art, as well as past and present, offering a unique way to experience Tsukaimo's distinct worldview.
