Focusing on the Charm of Details――Creating Nail Tips Using Artwork Images|News List|Kyoto Sangyo University
Summary
In the seminar "International Cultural Exercise IA" led by Associate Professor Natsuko Kuwabara of the Faculty of Culture and Cultural Planning, students practiced the skill of identifying artists and periods from small details of artworks by creating nail chips. After learning about copyright, they searched for public‑domain images, cropped them to focus on details such as a fragment of "Girls at the Piano" by Renoir, and uploaded the cropped images to a website that produces custom nail tips. The finished nail chips, showcased at a semester‑ending tea party, reflected each group’s individuality and demonstrated a hands‑on blend of digital humanities and art history.
