Masako Ando: Ordinary Days
Summary
The exhibition "Masako Ando: Ordinary Days" will be held at the Hara Museum ARC's special exhibition room, Kankai-an, from March 14 to September 6, 2026. The exhibition focuses on her 2024 installation "New Normal," composed of about 150 small Raku ware pieces, alongside new oil paintings and videos, presented in a Japanese-style setting to reveal the artist's current artistic position. Ando transitioned from painting, experiencing a psychological divergence, to physically realizing pictorial images through ceramic reliefs, culminating in her Raku ware works. Reflecting on the constant global conflicts and disasters, she views this as the "new normal" and strives not to be defeated by it, meticulously searching through fire and smoke to rescue fragments of light—such as flowers, cats, and children's feet—from the debris, echoing a desire to recreate what is lost, similar to the hope found in literature.
