Musashino Art University, Department of Craft and Industrial Design, Industrial Design Course 3rd Year Off-Campus Exhibition "URBAN SWITCH" - Design & Art Exhibition & Event Information | JDN
Summary
An off-campus exhibition titled "URBAN SWITCH," featuring works by third and fourth-year volunteers from the Interior Design Laboratory of the Department of Craft and Industrial Design at Musashino Art University, will take place from March 9 to March 15, 2026, at "Hibiya OKUROJI," a commercial facility under the elevated tracks in Hibiya, Tokyo. The exhibition explores how the space under elevated tracks—a form of urban stock—can be transformed or "switched." Students propose processes to connect these often-divided spaces back to the community and the city through models and panels, deliberately choosing the historic brick-arch setting of Hibiya OKUROJI to align with the theme. A related talk event, "URBAN SWITCH: Transforming (SWITCHING) Urban Stock," featuring Professor Shinichi Ito and spatial designer Kenichi Yoshisato, is scheduled for March 14.
