Sou Fujimoto's Architecture and Kohei Nawa's Work Resonate: JINS's First Global Flagship Store, "JINS Ginza Store," Opens
Summary
JINS is opening its first global flagship store, the "JINS Ginza Store," on March 28th in the Kyobunkan Building on Ginza Chuo Dori. The store was designed by architect Sou Fujimoto, who infused contemporary sensibility into the historic 1933 building originally designed by Antonin Raymond. The exterior is wrapped in a white finish, created by polishing plaster mixed with mirror fragments, evoking the softness of Japanese sweets or washi paper. Inside, the space features an open atrium connecting the ground floor to the basement, where the exposed structure tells the building's layered history. A permanent installation, Kohei Nawa's five-meter-tall sculpture titled "Snow-Deer," is displayed in the atrium, allowing visitors to view the work from multiple perspectives as they move between the floors.
