The special joint curation exhibition "u.n.l.o.c.k. tube++" will be held at the art gallery cafe "WHAT CAFE" in Tennozu, Tokyo, from September 4th to 27th, featuring contemporary artist Noboru Tsubaki as the guest curator. As part of the "TENNOZ ART WEEK 2026" program, the exhibition is supported by ARTOTHÈQUE from Kyoto University of the Arts.
The exhibition showcases works by 37 artists selected from the perspectives of both Tsubaki and WHAT CAFE, spanning various media including Japanese painting, oil painting, photography, ceramics, glass, and installations. This collaboration brings together Tsubaki's efforts in creating artist-led market structures and WHAT CAFE's mission to provide opportunities for young artists to exhibit and sell their work.
In his statement, Tsubaki addresses the contemporary situation of images being constantly consumed and symbolized, questioning both artistic expression and the methods of delivering art to society in an increasingly uncertain era.
